Tatiana Van Iten

Yormundgard Necklace.
Three pieces of woolly mammoth tusk (Russia), two ammonites (Madagascar), bone beads and components, horn beads and components, eight golden horn leaves, seed beads, Miyuki transparent silver-lined seed beads, bone horse clasp, two silver ear studs (flat pads) for earring, tan nylon thread. "This necklace was made in October 2004 for the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads Beading Contest and won second place in the wood/bone/horn category. It contains a lot of symbols. For example, the big Scandinavian snake (Yormungard) I carved on a piece of mammoth tusk symbolizes eternity. The sun symbolizes power, and the leaves symbolize life. For the bracelet, I used the Russian multilevel technique (cross stitch on top of square angle stitch)."
